When Everton paid £25m for Beto’s signature in 2023, it was a signing met with great fanfare.
The towering centre-forward had just come off the back of a prolific season in Serie A with Torino and was hot property.
However, Beto struggled in his debut season, netting just five goals, and up until David Moyes joined in January, he was struggling this year, too.
Moyes has been able to get a tune out of him as he’s struck six times in 12 starts, which is a commendable tally.
However, Beto’s future has been thrown into doubt in recent weeks as it emerged that he would consider his future in the summer, with multiple clubs making approaches.
Now, the 27-year-old has poured cold water on those claims.
Beto admits he’s really ‘happy’ at Everton
Any doubts around whether Beto wants to leave Goodison have just been quashed by the man himself in a recent interview with Everton’s website.
He admitted he’s really happy at Everton and is very grateful to play for the football club.
“Wow. (The display and atmosphere) was beautiful, honestly. I feel blessed and very grateful to be here and play for Everton.”
Beto continued: “I am fighting. I am fighting with myself to be more consistent – sometimes I do good games, sometimes I do bad, but I want to keep the trajectory going up, or at least stable at a good level.
“This is football, you know, it’s a hard game – but I’m happy. I’m happy to fight, to try to prove myself every day. I will never stop.”
Everton should move on from Beto
Whilst Beto has undoubtedly shown signs of improvement, it might be best to move him on this summer transfer window.
His stock is pretty high at the moment, so it would be a good chance to receive a decent fee for his signature.
Everton are in the market for a striker anyway, with Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap high on Moyes’ transfer shortlist.
With that said, Beto is expected to be dropped back to the bench next season and that’s a big asset to have that’s hardly playing.
Funds from his sale could be reinvested straight back into Delap, who has a £30m relegation release clause.
