Everton had to settle for a point in their clash against Ipswich Town on Saturday.
David Moyes dragged his side into the penultimate game at Goodison Park on the back of two consecutive defeats in the Premier League.
From the off, Everton meant business and it did not take them long to take a two-goal lead.
Beto’s form has completely fallen away recently, but he was able to score his first goal since February for the Toffees.
And it was an excellent return to the starting XI for Dwight McNeil who doubled the lead with a stunning strike.
After conceding before half-time, Everton were unable to hang on for all three points as they aim to wave goodbye to Goodison in style.
Although Beto was the standout performer for the Blues, Owen Hargreaves gave special mention to one of Moyes’ other attacking players.

Owen Hargreaves raves about Everton outcast vs Ipswich Town
A number of changes were made to the starting XI for the Blues with Carlos Alcaraz coming into the starting XI.
Hargreaves previously hailed Alcaraz as a player capable of potentially playing for a top-six side in the Premier League.
Speaking on Star Hub Premier, the former Manchester United midfielder piled further praise on the Argentine after his assist for the opening goal.
“Great ball from Alcaraz, he is such a good player,” said Hargreaves.
“That’s a fantastic ball and the header is absolutely perfect! The difference between him under Moyes is crazy, he is such a handful. He’s scoring now which is the most important thing.”
Everton are hoping to sign Alcaraz for a lower fee than what they have agreed with Flamengo.
But as the Argentine continues to impress when he is given the opportunity, it may prove difficult for the Blues to argue their case with the Brazilian giants.
Carlos Alcaraz needs to start more often for Everton
It has been made clear that Alcaraz is not Moyes’ first choice when Abdoulaye Doucoure is fit and available.
However, the loanee has shown an awful lot when he has been handed the start in an Everton shirt.
Everton fans have praised Alcaraz for some of his performances this season and he dazzled again for the Blues on Saturday.
- 89 minutes played
- 1 assist
- 1/1 accuracte crosses
- 3/4 accurate long balls
- 2/2 aerial duels won
- 3x was fouled
- 90% pass accuracy
Despite not being handed the obvious backing from Moyes, the Argentine continues to impress and put in performances which should only boost his hopes of remaining on Merseyside.
