Everton have seen their former manager Carlo Ancelotti struggle recently against Premier League opposition.

Real Madrid return to Champions League action on Wednesday night when they face Arsenal in the Spanish capital.

Just days after Everton secured a draw against the Gunners, Madrid suffered a hefty 3-0 defeat in north London.

Ancelotti praised Everton after their Arsenal draw and that point against Mikel Arteta’s side was proven to be even more impressive.

The Italian is now on the verge of seeing his side dumped out of the Champions League with a spot in the final four hanging by a thread.

Ancelotti enjoyed his time on Merseyside, and despite managing Real Madrid, the 65-year-old has once again commented on the Blues.

Carlo Ancelotti shares another message to Everton fans

Real Madrid fans slammed Everton after their Champions League misery last week against the Gunners.

But their manager speaks much more positively of his former club as his side face European elimination on Wednesday night.

Speaking to Swiss outlet RSI, Ancelotti admitted feeling the Merseyside Derby made him an Everton fan for life.

“My dream was to coach Liverpool, but then I found myself at Everton and I experienced their rivalry, and now I am absolutely an Everton fan,” he said.

“I really liked the environment, because there is a spectacular passion for the colours. You also notice the suffering that the fans have for Liverpool, which for many years and still today is the best in the Premier League.”

Gary Lineker couldn’t believe how Ancelotti left Everton after speaking to Madrid to offer them advice on their next appointment.

Despite forcing his way back to Madrid, it seems the 65-year-old still holds a lot of positive memories from his time at Goodison Park.

Ancelotti could still provide big Everton boost

This summer is set to be a pivotal one for both Everton and Ancelotti.

The Toffees are set to receive the financial backing of the Friedkins for the very first time in a summer transfer window.

Ancelotti could be about to join Brazil as their new national manager, with his time at Madrid looking increasingly uncertain.

This potential move could really benefit Everton in the transfer window.

Richarlison is of interest to Everton and he will be looking for more regular football ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Ancelotti could really help Everton in securing a return for Richarlison over the coming months if he is to take the job with Brazil.
