Chelsea join Everton in transfer hunt for ‘brilliant’ Englishman amid uncertainty over Kenny Tete

Everton fans are clamouring for new signings, but a move for Kenny Tete appears not to be progressing.

Everton got the green light from Tete recently, with the full-back reaching a verbal agreement with the Toffees.

But Fulham then presented an improved contract offer to Tete, and it has all gone quiet on the situation in recent days.

There is a possibility that Everton miss out on Tete, so other targets may well come into the picture.

And another right-back Everton have looked at for a while is Kyle Walker-Peters, who leaves Southampton after today following the expiry of his contract.

Walker-Peters is not short of interest, and one report has shared who is currently leading the race.

According to Caught Offside, Besiktas are currently leading the charge for Walker-Peters.

Their interest is the strongest at the moment, as they seek a replacement for Bright Osayi-Samuel.

But Walker-Peters – who has been branded ‘brilliant’ by his former manager Russell Martin (via BBC Sport) – is attracting a lot of attention from English clubs at the moment, with Chelsea a new club to join the hunt.

As well as Everton, Caught Offside say that Chelsea, West Ham United, Fulham, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur are all keen.

But Besiktas have actually made contact with the player’s representatives, it’s claimed, making them the current favourites. The player is open to a new challenge abroad.

Everton must sign one of Tete or Walker-Peters

Of course, there are a lot of players out there who could make a good right-back signing for Everton.

But both Tete and Walker-Peters have good experience of playing in the Premier League, and either one would be a solid addition for David Moyes.

And the fact that both are available as free agents is an added bonus.

Everton fans are starting to get itchy feet over the lack of incoming activity.

So hopefully, Everton can get a move for Tete over the line or failing that, swoop ahead of the competition to land Walker-Peters.
