Everton take on Manchester City and Goodison Park on Saturday in the Premier League.

It will be the final time a really big club makes the visit to the Old Lady, with just three games remaining in L4.

David Moyes has brought a new lease of confidence to Merseyside, with the Toffees pulling well clear of the bottom three.

With just seven games remaining in the season, Everton will now have their eyes on closing the gap to the top half.

Everton were praised for their win over Nottingham Forest, and rightfully so as they were full value for their three points.

And they will be coming up against another difficult task this weekend.

Chris Sutton will be in attendance for the clash at Goodison, and he is convinced about one thing after recently watching both sides.

Chris Sutton shares Everton vs Manchester City prediction

Everton will have an almost full strength squad available for selection on Saturday, with only the odd player remaining out through injury.

Jordan Pickford is available for Everton despite missing training recently due to the birth of his child.

And speaking to BBC Sport, Sutton fully believes this Everton side are capable of taking all three points off City.

“Everton will work hard, of course, but they are also very capable of winning this if they are as ‘in your face’ as they can be, and upset City’s rhythm,” he said.

“If Pep Guardiola’s side play like they did against Nottingham Forest a few weeks ago, and don’t really get going, then they are going to get turned over.

“On the other hand, City really caught fire after almost going 3-0 down against Palace last week. If they play like that, they will win – but you are never quite sure what you are going to get from them in each half at the moment, let alone game to game.

“So, it is hard to know how the game will pan out. Everton will not be overly expansive or bothered about possession and will pick their moments when they throw Abdoulaye Doucoure forward.

“They will be direct and Beto will run in behind, and I definitely see them scoring, but I am still going with City to edge this, somehow. They have to, really, because they are under pressure to make the top five.”

Moyes has recognised Everton are now safe from relegation, but that has only seen them up their game last weekend against Forest.

What Everton will not want to do is to end their time at Goodison on a negative note.

What Pep Guardiola has said about David Moyes

Moyes may have spotted Guardiola’s weakness ahead of the game on Saturday, but City showed on the weekend what they are still capable of.

The Spanish manager is yet to speak to the media – at the time of writing – ahead of the game on the weekend.

But Guardiola has already admitted in the past that he is a huge fan of Everton’s 61-year-old manager.

“David Moyes – I admire this type of person, like Roy Hodgson. They have had incredibly long careers. I would love to have their long careers for many years and have this passion to be manager and to do the job,” he said back in a 2021 press conference.
