Everton are looking to make some late deals happen in the transfer market.

Kevin Thelwell has a point to prove in these final hours of the window with his Everton contract set to expire at the end of the season.

David Moyes has wanted signings to be made since he was appointed last month as he made his return to Merseyside.

However, it has been a real struggle for the Toffees in the window.

Everton have agreed a deal to sign Carlos Alcaraz on loan until the end of the campaign, with an expectation he will be made permanent.

But there is one club owner who has now unleashed a social media outburst over the future of one of his players linked with a move to Goodison Park.

John Textor unleashes rant over Everton target Rayan Cherki’s Lyon future

Ahead of Monday’s deadline, Everton are showing interest in Rayan Cherki who is attracting suitors from the Premier League.

The French playmaker has also seen Tottenham Hotspur place him on their radar.

But the Lyon owner, John Textor, has now taken to social media to shut down the latest suggestions being made about Cherki’s future.

On Saturday evening, journalist Florian Plettenberg shared an update suggesting Borussia Dortmund were working on a deal for the 21-year-old.

However, Lyon’s vocal owner was quick to take to his Instagram account and shut down these suggestions.

“Fake news… this journalist is relying on multiple sources with manipulative intent,” said the American.

Lyon owner John Textor has responded to transfer rumours surrounding Rayan Cherki.

Textor was very vocal about his interest in buying Everton last year and continues to let his thoughts be known to the public.

Everton may not land Cherki, going off this outburst, but the Toffees must be glad they landed the Friedkins and not Textor as their owner.

Following the post from Textor, Plettenberg has since provided a further update on the future of Cherki at Lyon.

Dortmund are edging closer to landing the 21-year-old playmaker before Monday’s deadline with the Bundesliga side ready to activate his release clause.

Cherki has an £18.6m release clause at Lyon, with Dortmund ready to pay once they have an agreement with the player.

An opportunity potentially missed for the Toffees with reports from Germany suggesting Textor may well be failing in his attempt to throw water over the fire at Lyon.
