Crysencio Summerville has actually just done Everton a big favour

Crysencio Summerville is set to join Al-Hilal in a huge £68 million move, and there’s good news for Everton as a result.

The 2026 summer window has played host to some massive transfers so far.

Elliot Anderson has joined Manchester City for £116 million and Morgan Rogers has joined Chelsea for £117 million.

Tottenham Hotspur have also splashed £185 million on Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.

The market is starting to get somewhat out of control, as Premier League clubs look to construct squads capable of competing for silverware.

Summerville was linked with Everton earlier this summer. But quite clearly, the Toffees could never have competed with Al-Hilal.

But there is at least one positive to come out of this situation.

Crysencio Summerville’s £68m transfer should inform Iliman Ndiaye’s valuation

As Everton fans well know, there has been speculation about the future of Iliman Ndiaye this summer.

The winger has had two years on Merseyside, and established himself as arguably Everton’s best player in that time.

Ahead of the World Cup, Ndiaye talked up playing Champions League football, which some people took as an invitation for other clubs to bid for him.

Everton don’t want to sell him – and this move with Summerville now arguably helps their cause.

£68 million is undoubtedly above his true market value.

But Everton can now point to this figure as a starting point for clubs looking to sign Ndiaye.

And actually, arguably, Ndiaye is a better player than Summerville, so Everton should be seeking a fee that far exceeds £68 million.

He’s a couple of years further on in his development than Summerville, and is quite possibly the best dribbler in the Premier League.

Last term, only Jeremy Doku (84) completed more dribbles in the league than Ndiaye (73), who can operate in the middle and on both flanks.

Of course, there is the notion that Saudi clubs naturally pay more money for players in European because otherwise they wouldn’t go.

But that shouldn’t be a factor for Everton, especially given how much money some of these English clubs are spending at the moment.

They’ve got the money and Everton cannot settle for anything less than top dollar should they need to sell, after Ndiaye rejected multiple new contract offers from the club.
