Everton are beginning to ramp up their search for January reinforcements.

After Everton’s 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa last night, the need for attacking reinforcements is more evident than ever.

That’s 12 games this season now that Everton have blanked in and only Southampton have scored fewer, so David Moyes will be desperate to add more quality going forward.

Evan Ferguson has been linked with a move to Goodison Park whilst it seems a deal to sign Lyon winger Ernest Nuamah is being worked on.

Now, there’s been a fresh rumour linking two Chelsea players to Merseyside.

David Moyes likes Chelsea duo Carney Chukwuemeka and Ben Chilwell

According to the Telegraph, Moyes is a really big fan of Chelsea duo Carney Chukwuemeka and Ben Chilwell.

The two Englishmen have been excluded from the Premier League squad by Enzo Maresca, so they’ve been reduced to limited minutes in cup competitions.

Both are set to be made available this winter and a loan deal appears most likely at this stage, given the substantial finances required to sign them on a permanent.

Everton have been considering signing a left-back this month as they look to provide competition for Vitaliy Mykolenko.

Whilst Chukwuemeka would likely replace Abdoulaye Doucoure as a more traditional attacking midfielder.

Everton would need to free up loan space

At the moment, Everton can’t make any more loan signings as they have Armando Broja and Jack Harrison on temporary deals.

So one would have to be released in order to bring in one of the Chelsea stars and it seems Broja is the most likely exit.

Broja has been ruled out for 10-12 weeks with injury and Moyes recently admitted that he could return to the West Londoners to conduct his recovery.

Though, Harrison hasn’t exactly set the world alight this season and fans have been calling for the Leeds loanee to return to Elland Road.

A telling few weeks lie ahead on Merseyside.
