Everton are in the market for additions this January transfer window.

The Friedkin Group are expected to back David Moyes with three new signings, though, they may have to operate on a sell-to-buy policy.

Everton still aren’t out of the woods PSR-wise and have to be mindful of their financial restrictions, so Dominic Calvert-Lewin could be offloaded as a result.

Beto could also return to Serie A, so if those two sales do go through, Moyes will have a pretty sizable transfer kitty.

That said, it’s just come to light that Everton are keen to sign a very highly rated Premier League star this month.

Everton want to sign Evan Ferguson but there’s a problem

According to talkSPORT, Everton really want to sign Brighton striker Evan Ferguson on loan before the window slams shut at the start of February.

The Toffees are facing stiff competition from Arsenal, West Ham United and Bournemouth, so it certainly won’t be an easy deal to complete.

Plus, Brighton won’t make a decision on whether they’ll allow Ferguson to depart until the end of the month, giving them time to assess the fitness of Joao Pedro and Danny Welbeck, who have both been dealing with injuries.

So it seems there’s a lot of hurdles to overcome before a deal can realistically be done to sign the Republic of Ireland international.

Brighton would consider bids of around £60m for Ferguson and that appears to be the only way to guarantee his signature.

Otherwise, at this stage, a six-month loan isn’t looking too likely.

Everton could try for Yuri Alberto

If Everton’s attempts to sign Ferguson are unsuccessful, the club could turn to Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto.

Moyes has a a long standing interest in Alberto, dating back to his West Ham days, plus his signature is a lot more attainable.

Alberto has already been offered to Nottingham Forest, so the Brazillian outfit are evidently willing to sanction his exit for the right fee.

The 23-year-old is thought to be valued at around £25m.
