Everton have finished 13th in the Premier League table – and David Moyes is rightly coming under fire from a lot of supporters.
The Toffees lost 1-0 away to Tottenham Hotspur on the final day, to make it seven games without a victory to end the 2025/26 campaign.
Everton were in such a great position after the last international break, and fans were on a real high from the 3-0 win over Chelsea.
How do you even sum up that performance? 😡
Utterly woeful from Everton on the final day…
But that was to be Everton’s final win of the season, with David Moyes overseeing a disastrous run that has cost the club European football.
There have already been attempts from Moyes to play down this end to the season.
Angus Kinnear also recently used the phrase ‘happily dissatisfied’ to describe Everton’s term.
But unfortunately for Moyes, Kinnear and the rest of the Everton hierarchy, there can be no excuses especially given what Sunderland in particular have achieved.
Sunderland finishing 7th is a terrible look for David Moyes and Everton

A 13th-placed finish would probably have been deemed a good season before a ball was kicked.
But given the position Everton were in just a few weeks ago, the season has to go down as a failure – and what Sunderland have done renders all excuses from Moyes and the hierarchy meaningless.
Sunderland were a newly-promoted side ahead of 2025/26, but they have been competitive and ambitious from the outset.
They made a string of signings in the summer, and Regis Le Bris has managed to get the best out of the vast majority of them.
The likes of Granit Xhaka, Brian Brobbey, Noah Sadiki, Nordi Mukiele and goalkeeper Robin Roefs have all been excellent, as has manager Le Bris, who never gave up on European football.

Just a few weeks ago, Sunderland had looked down and out in terms of playing in Europe next season. There were even whispers that Le Bris’ job wasn’t completely safe.
But the Black Cats went unbeaten in their final four games, drawing two and winning two – including beating Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium – to sneak into the Europa League.
Everton were in a much more promising position, and yet, the Toffees have slid down to 13th in the table, with Sunderland finishing seventh.
What they’ve achieved in their first season after promotion just exacerbates Everton’s disappointing finish and situation.
That was a disgraceful performance from Everton… something has to change! 😤
The achievements of Bournemouth and Brighton also don’t help Moyes’ cause, but it is Sunderland in particular who really put things into perspective.
So any notion from the likes of Moyes and Kinnear about this being a decent or ‘successful’ season should be dismissed. The bar has been raised, and by clubs Everton should really be finishing above comfortably.
Everton got a little taste of European football this season and didn’t want to take a bite. When Sunderland got that same taste, they absolutely gobbled it up.
