Everton’s squad is set to undergo major surgery in the summer transfer window.
The Friedkin Group are planning to strengthen in every department this summer, so it promises to be a very busy few months on Merseyside.
David Moyes and his recruitment chiefs have already been drawing up a list of targets, with a number of Championship players linked.
Sunderland’s Chris Rigg is being monitored by the Toffees, whilst Burnley centre-back Maxime Esteve is also on the shortlist.
Now, it has just emerged that Moyes has been dealt his first transfer blow after being rejected by an Arsenal star.

Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney rejects Everton
Everton looked at replacing Vitaliy Mykolenko in January but ultimately, they decided to keep their powder dry for a big spend this summer.
Moyes wants to replace Mykolenko and that’s become even more apparent by the fact he made an approach for Kieran Tierney.
According to the Daily Record, Tierney has knocked back an approach from Everton in order to sign a pre-contract agreement with Celtic.
The Scotland international wanted to reunite with Brendan Rodgers at his former club, so the Toffees never really stood a chance of landing his signature.
Anyhow, Everton have a back-up target to the £25m Arsenal man.
Everton could now accelerate move for Sunderland’s Dennis Cirkin
Speaking exclusively to the site, Graeme Bailey revealed that Everton are keeping close tabs on Dennis Cirkin.
“Everton are in the market for full-backs this summer and they are one of those who have done work on Cirkin this season. He is an intriguing prospect,” Bailey explained.
Cirkin’s impressive form for Sunderland has alerted a number of clubs in the Premier League, with Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace named as potential suitors.
So, it won’t be an easy deal to pull off for Moyes and his chiefs.
