Everton’s three-game winning streak came to an end in the FA Cup on Saturday as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Goodison Park.

David Moyes’ side fell two goals behind in the first half as Antoine Sementyo and Daniel Jebbison netted for the visitors.

Not without controversy, though, because it’s come to light that Bournemouth’s penalty may have been offside, but there’s no VAR at this stage of the competition.

Seamus Coleman was spotted having a word with the referee post-match, with the boos ringing around Goodison.

Anyhow, aside from the result, it was a good opportunity to see Carlos Alcaraz make his debut for Everton.

With that said, Moyes delivered his verdict on his first display in a blue shirt.

David Moyes issues verdict on Carlos Alcaraz

Speaking post-match, Moyes delivered his verdict on the debutant’s first minutes in an Everton shirt.

“I was pleased with what he showed,” the 61-year-old said. “He had a great effort which hit the post from the free kick.”

Indeed, Alcaraz went close to netting a memorable debut goal after crashing a curling free-kick off the post.

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson was really impressed with Alcaraz, too, noting that he looked ‘very, very good’.

Alcaraz stats vs Bournemouth

Alcaraz came on in the 65th minute and produced a really accomplished cameo performance in midfield.

Here are his impressive statistics, as per Sofascore.

The Argentina international looks far more suited to the attacking midfield role than Abdoulaye Doucoure, so perhaps he could start in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool in mid-week.

Alcaraz’s previous Premier League experience with Southampton will allow him to settle in much quicker than most overseas signings.

So it looks like he could hit the ground running for the Toffees.
