Everton are now sweating over the final week in the transfer window with no signings made so far.
The Friedkins have been through the doors on Merseyside for over a month now but they are still awaiting their first piece of business.
Although David Moyes has not welcomed any new faces through the door at Finch Farm, he will be delighted with what he’s seen from his inherited players.
The 60-year-old returned to Goodison Park with Everton sitting narrowly above the relegation zone.
Moyes has demanded two new signings at Everton but has been forced to work with the players left behind by Sean Dyche.
With two wins under his belt, there is one player who Moyes has been left seriously impressed by.

David Moyes impressed by Everton’s Jake O’Brien
Since Moyes made his return to Merseyside, defender Jake O’Brien has been handed a fresh opportunity after joining in the summer.
Sean Dyche broke his promise to O’Brien for him to be Jarrad Branthwaite’s deputy.
But Moyes’ arrival has provided a greater responsibility for the Ireland international, who is now flourishing in the starting XI.
“I’d watched the game [vs Peterborough] and I thought he’d done quite well. He is a centre-half, but a lot of young central defenders make their debuts as full-backs,” Moyes told the Liverpool Echo.
“He’s improving, he’s got a long way to go, he’s got a lot of things to do. I’ve been really pleased with the two performances. He’s come into the team and we’ve won two games.”
O’Brien has praised Moyes’ methods at Everton, having shared what he is doing better than Dyche did on Merseyside.
The 23-year-old is clearly enjoying life after Dyche with two starts in the last two Premier League games; which is two more than he had under Dyche.

Jake O’Brien excelling in his new position
After the game against Brighton, O’Brien admitted he’s enjoying playing in front of Jordan Pickford in the Everton goal.
Having signed as a centre-back, O’Brien is now being played at right-back by Moyes.
Everton have not had too many issues defensively this season, which has led to a strong partnership forming between James Tarkowski and Branthwaite.
But O’Brien was solid against Brighton as he came up against Kaoru Mitoma:
- 90 minutes played
- 10 clearances
- 4 tackles
- 1 interception
- 0 fouls conceded
- 77% pass accuracy
Considering the defender had very little match sharpness when Moyes arrived, he has been exceptional at right-back.
And it just goes to show his quality considering it is not his natural position.
