Everton have now been informed how much it would cost them to sign Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United.

The need to add to their midfielder was made even more apparent over the weekend after Everton suffered yet another injury.

Orel Mangala will miss the rest of the season with his diagnosis coming back as knee ligament damage.

The Belgium international went down against Brighton & Hove Albion and was in clear discomfort as he left the pitch.

Coming into the winter market, the Friedkins were keen to sign a new midfielder for Everton as one of their two priorities.

And they have now been informed how much it would take to prise away one of their targets from Tyneside.

Newcastle open to selling Sean Longstaff to Everton

In recent days, it has been suggested Everton are keen to sign Newcastle United’s Sean Longstaff before the deadline.

The Toffees could add an experienced midfielder with the 27-year-old who is struggling for regular starts under Eddie Howe.

According to journalist Harry Watkinson, Newcastle would be open to allowing their homegrown talent to join Everton.

With just over one year remaining on his deal at St. James’ Park, Newcastle would consider a sale for a fee in the region of £12m.

With that said, Everton are believed to be considering their potential move for the midfielder.

Longstaff is not the only midfielder on the radar at Newcastle with Everton also keen on Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

But with Longstaff eyed as a permanent transfer, he may well prove an easier deal to pull off for Kevin Thelwell.

Sean Longstaff needs to play regular football

Everton have seen two major midfield injury boosts amid Mangala’s significant setback.

James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam have now returned to training at Finch Farm following their own injury issues.

However, Moyes has admitted the pair are not exactly match fit having spent months on the sidelines.

Longstaff may not be a regular in Howe’s starting XI, but he could provide an instant replacement for Mangala.

The Newcastle academy product has received interest from the likes of Manchester United in the past and could prove a real shrewd piece of business for the Toffees.
