Everton have now seen a pressing need to bring in a new midfielder this week after Orel Mangala’s injury.
It is the news which Everton fans will have been dreading on the back of Saturday’s victory.
Mangala will miss the rest of the season after sustaining knee ligament damage in the game against Brighton & Hove Albion.
David Moyes may have made a bright start to his return on Merseyside, but he is having to deal with a lot behind-the-scenes.
The Friedkins wanted to sign two players this month but are still awaiting their first piece of business as the Everton owners.
With less than a week remaining in the window, there is now one of their targets who is calling out for a move before the deadline.

Everton target Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall wants to leave Chelsea
One player who Everton are showing an interest in is Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall with his Chelsea future remaining unclear.
The midfielder only joined the Blues in the summer, but his game time has been far from consistent under Enzo Maresca.
And according to Caught Offside, the £30m midfielder is now looking for a move away from Stamford Bridge.
The Englishman’s future in west London is said to be one which could unravel in the final days of the window.
Everton and Chelsea are in talks over Armando Broja’s loan deal with the striker suffering a season-ruining injury.
Perhaps a deal could be struck between the two clubs for Dewsbury-Hall.
Dewsbury-Hall could prove a smart addition for David Moyes
With Mangala now missing the remainder of the term, Moyes may be looking at his midfield options with a bit of concern.
James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam have returned from injury, but the pair are far from match-sharp after months on the sidelines.
Although Dewsbury-Hall has not been a regular in Marseca’s starting XI, he has been able to provide goals and assists when played.
| 2024/25 | Total |
|---|---|
| Appearances | 16 |
| Minutes | 934 |
| Goals | 2 |
| Assists | 2 |
With Everton also suffering injuries up top, Moyes could do with a midfielder who will really chip in with goals and Dewsbury-Hall could well be that player.
