Everton’s loss against Aston Villa has highlighted a number of issues on Merseyside for David Moyes.
Struggles up top have plagued Everton all season, and Wednesday night was no different.
Moyes has spoken to Dominic Calvert-Lewin about his form of late following his appointment over the weekend.
Despite his struggles, Moyes gave the Englishman the nod up front for Everton in their defeat against Aston Villa.
Everton are on the search for a new forward before the January transfer window comes to an end.
It seems Moyes’ team selection has already caused an issue with one of the players he has inherited at Goodison.

Beto left angered over his Everton situation
With a lack of game time to his name, Beto is keen to leave Everton in the January window with interest coming from Italy.
Wednesday was the first insight into how Moyes would select his starting XI and Beto played a mere seven minutes of action.
According to Tuttosport, the decision to start the Portuguese striker on the bench and play such little game time has not gone down well.
Beto is believed to have been angered by being snubbed in favour of Calvert-Lewin.
Following Moyes’ decision, it is claimed Beto is now looking to put his foot down and demand the Friedkins allow him to leave.
Prior to the game, there was the suggestion Moyes wanted to use Beto and provide the striker with a fresh start on Merseyside.
But it seems as if the 26-year-old wanted to see the new manager show his faith in him from the very start.
Everton should start Beto against Tottenham
Moyes does not have much time to work with his players before their next game against Tottenham Hotspur.
Calvert-Lewin missed a huge opportunity against Villa, which would have secured Everton a point in the dying minutes.
Beto watched most of the game from the bench and will surely have been rueing the opportunities he could have had on goal if he started.
It leaves Moyes with an interesting decision to make considering Calvert-Lewin is in such poor form and Beto is a man in demand this month.
However, it is not an easy decision to make, considering the last time the 27-year-old was dropped in the league, Calvert-Lewin’s partner posted a cryptic message about Armando Broja on social media.
At a time when Moyes needs everyone onboard at Everton, this is not exactly what he will be wanting.
