With the prospect of David Moyes making an Everton return increasing by the second, the Scotsman’s past views may come to light if appointed.
With the news that David Moyes has been announced, much will be made about how he will set up his side.
Sean Dyche’s tactics got slated constantly by the Everton fanbase as Jamie Carragher labelled Everton as a ‘1990s team’ with the way they play football.
Moyes has done brilliant things at West Ham, punching the London side well above their weight in recent years with a Europa Conference League win.
Everton fans are hoping he can do the same, as Moyes may already have a few changes up his sleeves.

David Moyes identifies defensive weakness and mistakes
Jose Mourinho won’t be joining Everton, but he is someone who would’ve shined in the defensive department with the Toffees.
Moyes is someone who has taken pride in scoring and defending set-pieces, utilising the likes of Tomas Soucek at West Ham to be a threat.
Speaking on Match of the Day 2 last month, Moyes believed Everton had to improve set-pieces after defeat to Manchester United.
“Today was always going to be a hard game against Manchester United and Dychey sort of eluded to that.
“But they gave away goals that were really unlike them. They need to be much better defensively, they need to get their set-pieces back working because over the last season or two they have been very good defending and attacking.”
Despite Dyche priding himself on Everton’s defensive work, Moyes clearly believes there is still room for improvement.
Mistakes are still present, with Vitalii Mykolenko hesitating to allow Anthony Elanga to run onto a loose ball against Nottingham Forest and Jarrad Branthwaite ducking out of the way against Bournemouth.
Moyes should focus more on attacking approach at Everton
Despite Everton still needing work on defending and attacking set-pieces, Moyes may want to think about improving Everton’s attacking output in open-play.
Dyche’s side have found that the majority of their goals this season have come from set-pieces, and although it isn’t many, it’s what Everton actually did well under Dyche this season.

| Set-pieces | 6 |
| Open-play | 7 |
| Own goals | 2 |
Chris Sutton was in shock at Everton’s goal-scoring as the fans are crying out for goals and Moyes will need to produce more from open-play scenarios.
Yes, there’s always room for improvement, but Moyes must find the net in different ways.
