Everton have several players who are in need of proving a point this season.

The takeover in December has acted as a new dawn for Everton, with new investment putting a number of their players at risk.

David Moyes has already seen a number of players not handed new deals this summer, with the likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure moving on as a free agent.

The Friedkins have invested £100m as a transfer kitty this summer, which has already seen a big chunk spent on Thierno Barry.

With the American owners looking to put their own stamp on the squad, there are a number of Everton players who are fighting for their future.

Moyes wants to see more players signed on Merseyside, but he could well have a number of players looking to prove their worth over the coming weeks.

Nathan Patterson faces huge season for his Everton future

Everton are looking to sign a new full-back this summer. Moyes has been keen to improve the options at both right and left-back since he arrived.

Following new deals for Michael Keane and Jarrad Branthwaite, new defensive signings have taken a backseat at Everton, for now.

According to The Athletic, the 2025/26 campaign is going to be a decisive one for the £16m right-back, Nathan Patterson.

The Scotland international is now playing for his future on Merseyside after years of failing to really make an impression at the club.

Moyes has already demanded more from Patterson in the short time he has been back at Finch Farm.

“It could weaken the side down the right (if O’Brien moves),” Moyes said last season.

Little faith has been shown from Moyes in his compatriot, but Patterson did start Tuesday’s game against Accrington Stanley.

Patterson has been linked with a move to Rangers in recent months.

For now, it appears the right-back will be given an opportunity to show his worth on Merseyside, but this may be his last opportunity.

At 23-years-old, there is still plenty of time for Patterson to turn things around in his career.

The issue lies in the youngster only having two years left on his deal with the Blues, which means this season is going to be crucial.

Remaining fit is going to be key for Patterson, given he has missed a considerable number of games due to injuries whilst at Everton.

Former Everton defender Yerry Mina has shared his support for Patterson following his return from injury last season.

What will be interesting to see is where Jake O’Brien’s spot in the side lies if Patterson is able to prove himself over the summer as the starting right-back.
