David Moyes left stunned by one Everton man in training, he looks ‘a different player’

Everton return to action at the weekend with an away trip to the capital to face Fulham.

The Toffees were able to end their run of back-to-back defeats in the Premier League at the weekend against Ipswich Town.

But David Moyes was left frustrated by Everton’s draw against the Tractor Boys having conceded their two-goal lead.

Everton’s away form has been considerably better than their home form of late with their only win in the last 10 coming away to Nottingham Forest.

Moyes will be looking to put three points on the board and he will have a near fully-fit side to select from.

There has even been one player who has really impressed the 62-year-old manager during training at Finch Farm this week.

David Moyes showers praise on Everton’s Harrison Armstrong

Everton have welcomed back Harrison Armstrong from his loan spell with Derby County.

Armstrong has returned to Everton training straight away despite his season being done.

Although the 18-year-old cannot play for Everton in these final three games, Moyes has waxed lyrical about the midfielder in his pre-Fulham press conference.

“He’s back a different player because he’s probably got 25 Championship games under his belt for a young boy, which is very good,” he said.

“He’s only trained with us two days this week. He’s had a little bit of time off and we’re probably expecting him to be involved with the England U19s or U18s possibly in the coming weeks.

“So, we’ve just got to make sure he gets some holiday time off, but also keep him ready for that as well. We will involve him in the Summer Series and involve him in the pre-season. He will get an opportunity.”

Having enjoyed a taste of men’s football, Armstrong has told Moyes he wants to play for Everton next season at Bramley-Moore Dock.

With an opportunity to impress over the summer, Armstrong is putting himself in a good spot to head into pre-season with the 62-year-old manager.

Harrison Armstrong says he’s improved a lot at Derby County

John Eustace praised Armstrong at Derby with the youngster playing a significant role at Pride Park during his short-term loan.

Armstrong was sent out on loan in the hope he would play regular football and gain experience of men’s football.

That was exactly what happened.

And Armstrong believes he has benefitted massively from his time in the Championship helping Derby stay afloat.

“I’ve learned a lot about myself: things I’m good at, strengths and weaknesses,” he told the Everton website.

“I think I’ve matured as a person and hopefully I’m an all-round better player.

“You’re playing in front of a crowd, having pressure on you each game. And I think physically, having to play games in a matter of a few days has been tough, but I’ve enjoyed it.”
