Everton took on Bournemouth yesterday in their latest pre-friendly match – and Thierno Barry got his first minutes for the Toffees.
Everton were beaten 3-0 by the Cherries at the MetLife Stadium in the first game of the Premier League Summer Series.
Phillip Billing, Dango Outtara and Daniel Adu-Adjei were all on target for Bournemouth.
Everton actually had the better chances in the first-half, but fell apart in the second with poor defending their undoing.
Of course, results are not so important in pre-season.
But Everton fans have expressed their concern over yesterday’s defeat, and the call for new faces has grown louder – the hope is that The Friedkin Group will deliver for David Moyes in a big way.
Against Bournemouth one of Everton’s new signings did feature in the form of Thierno Barry, and after the game Moyes gave his verdict on the striker.
David Moyes pleased with Thierno Barry cameo for Everton vs Bournemouth

Everton fans were particularly pleased with the signing of Barry from Villarreal.
Last term, Everton did lack cutting edge in the final third, mostly under Sean Dyche.
Things did improve under Moyes and Beto undoubtedly made big strides once the Scot had come in.
But even he spurned a lot of big chances, so the hope is that Barry will make Everton a bit more potent up top.
Yesterday, Barry was handed a 15-minute cameo for his debut against Bournemouth, replacing Beto.
And Moyes liked what he saw from the 22-year-old.
He told Everton’s official website: “I thought Barry came on and actually did well for us as well.
“He came on and held the ball up quite well, looked as if he was going to work in behind as well. So there was a wee bit of a positive from that.”
Everton fans also liked the look of Barry on his debut, and he is surely set to increase his minutes against West Ham United this week.
Barry must lay down marker for Everton in pre-season
It was great to see Barry get his first minutes in an Everton shirt last night and hopefully he will get more minutes against West Ham United on Wednesday.
The new Premier League season isn’t far away now, and Moyes’ first team sheet against Leeds United is going to be very interesting.

One would imagine it will be a case of Barry or Beto – not a partnership.
So these games out in the US are an audition for new signing Barry, and a chance to convince Moyes to pick him over Beto against Leeds in that first game.
