Everton will want to forget their 3-0 Summer Series opener against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.

David Moyes will now be looking to The Friedkin Group and Angus Kinnear for answers in the transfer market, with his options left stretched.

Injuries have already hit Everton’s squad and Moyes is demanding signings to be made to bolster what was already a decimated squad.

There were some positives to take from the game, with Everton impressing in the opening 45 minutes.

However, the second half saw the Blues melt in the New Jersey heat through their lack of options from the bench.

Thierno Barry was able to come off the bench with around 20 minutes remaining in the game, and the fans were all left saying the same thing.

Everton fans react to Thierno Barry’s Everton debut

After signing a few weeks ago, Barry joined up with Everton earlier this week following his delayed summer break.

The youngster has had minimal time to settle in on Merseyside before he jetted off to the United States with his new teammates.

However, Everton fans liked what they saw in his 20 minutes on the pitch at the MetLife Stadium.

From the off, fans were impressed with what they saw, one fan said: ‘Barry’s looking promising’. Whilst another fan added: ‘Super skill from Barry there looks dynamic’.

Barry is expected to become Everton’s starting striker under Moyes after making the move from Villarreal for £27m.

Clearly, these fans believe he could become that. One fan thought Barry was at it from his first minute on the pitch, they said: ‘Looks really sharp Barry’. One fan even wants to see Barry pair up with Youssef Chermiti, they added: ‘Play Barry AND Chermiti instead of Beto.’

The 22-year-old is set to bring something different to the Everton attack, as one fan said: ‘Looked quick and shown a few decent touches’. A start on Wednesday could be on the cards, with another fan boldly saying: ’20 mins, already seen that Barry starts all day’.

Barry should start for Everton against West Ham United

Beto has impressed Moyes in pre-season this summer, but now it should be time for Barry to get his chance from the start on Wednesday.

That is not to say Beto should be replaced, and that is final.

Everton were unable to find the back of the net on Saturday against the Cherries. So, Moyes should be looking to make some adjustments where he can and Barry is one of them.

Opportunities to test new tactics is quickly running out ahead of the curtain raiser against Leeds United.

Wednesday’s game against the Hammers is the perfect opportunity for Barry to play from the start.
