Ben Foster believes Everton are currently in possession of a player who is like David Beckham.

It has been a positive past few weeks for fans, with David Moyes having overseen three wins in a row in the Premier League.

The three victories against Tottenham Hotspur, Brighton and Leicester City have sent Everton nine points clear of the relegation zone, which is a huge boost for everyone associated with the club.

Toffees fans had been hopeful of a busy transfer deadline day but in the end, only Carlos Alcaraz came in at Everton.

But Everton’s squad does still have quality in it, and Ben Foster has picked out one player at Goodison Park he is a really big fan of.

James Garner recently returned to full training at Everton after injury and against Brighton, he came off the bench.

And Garner seriously impressed in the win over Leicester, supplying a brilliant assist for Beto.

James Garner could well be a real game-changer for Everton, and Ben Foster – who’s previously played with Garner at Watford – spoke about the youngster in the latest video on the Ben Foster – The Cycling GK YouTube channel.

He said: “I love him. He’s such a nice lad. I love him to bits. He’s class. I got on really well with Jimmy to be fair, he used to play on our poker nights at Watford.

“He was class. Really good player. Technically brilliant. A bit like David Beckham the way he whips the balls in actually. He works hard, and he’ll have a fantastic career.

“He’s still only young. When he can get in that Everton team and show his ability, because he has got pure class, he oozes class, he really does. A natural with the ball at his feet.”

Garner could be key for Everton moving forward

Moyes said when he came in that he wants Everton to have a bit more possession, and so Garner stands to become a very important player.

With Orel Mangala now out with a serious knee injury, Moyes needs a new regular partner for the tough-tackling Idrissa Gueye – and Garner could really be a great complement to the Senegalese dynamo.

Appearances – 68
Goals – 2
Assists – 4

Garner is a player who likes to get on the ball and dictate the tempo of games.

We saw against Leicester how he can pick brilliant passes from deep, and hopefully, we will now see him enjoy a long run in the starting XI.
