The much-awaited verdict from Dermot Gallagher involving his view on Everton’s penalty decision has been revealed.

David Moyes and the Toffees felt extremely hard done by as Everton were denied a stonewall penalty on Ashley Young in the dying embers against Man United.

Rio Ferdinand was surprised at Everton’s penalty decision which says a lot from the former United defender.

It’s brought up plenty of debate as to whether it was or wasn’t but the bottom line is it could’ve cost Everton three points.

In what has infuriated the club Everton sent a cheeky dig to the PGMOL but Gallagher has now revealed whether the dig was warranted.

Dermot Gallagher’s verdict on Everton penalty decision vs Man United

Despite the game ending on Saturday, the decision is still causing uproar as Landon Donovan was left baffled at VAR’s decision.

Well now speaking to Sky Sports, former Premier League referee, Gallagher, has now revealed his stance.

“For me, the best solution is to stick with the referee,” Gallagher said.

“Once VAR got involved it raised issues which didn’t need to be raised.

“I don’t think it’s a foul by Maguire, but the referee has said to VAR ‘I think Maguire pulled his shirt’.

“The best angle is from the goalkeeper’s view, through the net, and you see De Ligt pulling him.

“What they showed him was that [side-on] angle over and over again and if the ref had been shown the through-the-net angle, he’d have stuck with his decision.”

Everton can’t seem to be awarded a penalty this season

Since Iliman Ndiaye’s penalty against Brighton four games ago, there have been plenty of refereeing errors involving Everton, not to mention incidents before this.

The decision against United has just added to Moyes’ fury and Young who was in disbelief against United, as this is all too familiar to Everton.

Against Brighton in August, Dominic Calvert-Lewin was brought down by Lewis Dunk. No penalty.

Once again vs Newcastle United, Calvert-Lewin was tripped by Dan Burn, no penalty.

Leicester was the most recent incident before United, as despite Moyes’ side cruising, Everton were denied yet again after Beto was obviously fouled in the box.

Extraordinarily, Leicester themselves have been awarded more penalties in the top flight than Everton, even spending one of those seasons in the Championship.

It’s now becoming quite ridiculous, as the PGMOL have to start correcting their mistakes.
