David Moyes will be leading his side out for one of the very last times in L4 on the weekend when they take on Manchester City.

Duncan Ferguson admits Everton legend Neville Southall was ‘strange’

In recent days, Southall has slammed Jordan Pickford as an average goalkeeper despite another impressive showing for the Blues.

The Everton legend has certainly not been shy to voice his opinion on the state of the club having previously won trophies on Merseyside.

Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, it was Southall’s turn to be on the receiving end of some comments from Ferguson.

“I’d be the first in the building. Actually, Neville Southall would be the first in the building because Neville was a strange cat,” said Ferguson.

“He would come up from Wales at 4/5am in the morning and drive because he was comfortable in his own place. He wouldn’t be in the gym, I would be in the gym.”

Southall has also said Moyes is not the answer at Everton for the club’s long-term plans, as he added to his ‘strange’ reputation.

The 66-year-old may well be an Everton legend, but it has become abundantly clear over the last week that he does have a unique personality to say the very least.

Ferguson loved his time at Everton

It was a match made in heaven as Ferguson personified everything the fans want in an Everton player.

Everton fans have been pleased with Beto’s performances, but the Portuguese striker has struggled of late to find the back of the net.

The 26-year-old does offer a physical presence up the top of the pitch, but no one will compare to Ferguson.

“It was a great fit. They needed someone like me. The team wasn’t very good, the strikers weren’t very good at the time. We were struggling at the bottom of the league, I think we were last in the league,” he said.

“I scored my first goal for Everton against Liverpool. So, it was a great start and everything changed for me then.”
