Everton and Evan Ferguson has been a saga that has lasted a while with David Moyes at the heart of it.

The 20-year-old is enduring a rough patch in his career, and Ferguson is in need of a rejuvenation.

Everton fans think Moyes can transform Ferguson again after the club have shown a long-term interest in him.

Since January, Everton has looked into the possibility of a loan deal for the Irishman, but of course, the young striker opted for a move to West Ham.

It’s been said that Everton have considered fresh talks for Ferguson, but his chance of a move to Merseyside this summer seems to have been put to bed.

The latest on Everton target Evan Ferguson’s future

It would be a potential risk to bring in someone like Ferguson, who has no doubt struggled in the last few seasons.

But Moyes will know the promise that comes with the striker, and it’s clear that this was a possibility at one stage.

Ferguson was once worth £100m, proving how far the Irishman has fallen, but things can change quickly.

Well, it’s clear his prospects won’t have the chance to change under Moyes, but The Friedkin Group will be signing Ferguson after all.

This is due to Roma closing in on Ferguson, as the striker could be set to find his fortunes in Rome.

Ben Jacobs has all but confirmed that a ‘loan’ is looking most likely for Ferguson as Roma and Brighton are trying to formulate a move to Everton’s dismay.

Everton’s masterplan for Ferguson has now been thrown out

With the loan looking the most ‘likely’ option, not only do Everton miss out, but any future transfer has been put to bed.

Previously, Everton have worked with Roma for Wesley Franca, as the Brazilian could join Everton and then be loaned out to Roma.

The thought was with Ferguson, is that this could be replicated just the other way around, as The Friedkins gave ‘priority’ to Roma, but the report stated that there was a possibility that if Roma were to buy him and then subsequently decide to sell him, Ferguson could be sold to Everton.

Now that Roma aren’t signing him permanently, the chance for the owners to use their multi-club model effectively for Ferguson has been firmly put to bed.
