David Moyes has given away the ‘surprising’ location Everton are now scouting this summer transfer window.

Everton have made three signings so far but they’re closing in on their fourth addition in the shape of Adam Aznou.

Aznou could be announced by Everton on Monday, completing a £10m transfer from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

The Toffees are also well-placed to sign Douglas Luiz from Juventus, with the Brazilian keen on a move to Merseyside.

Now, David Moyes has revealed that Everton have been exploring in a totally new market, which could hint at the type of player that could yet arrive at Finch Farm before the window shuts on September 1st.

Everton scouting in a totally new transfer market

According to the Athletic, Moyes was present at ‘several’ Club World Cup games during the summer and was impressed by the South American teams.

“The South American teams were very good and quite surprising,” the Scotsman admitted.

The Toffees boss then added that he does believe players from the Brazilian and Argentine leagues would be good recruits in the Premier League.

That certainly indicates that Everton will be following up the initial scouting mission with further checks on a number of South American talents that he spotted in the States.

Richard Rios was heavily linked with a move to Finch Farm before he completed a transfer to Benfica, so that was evidently one who caught Moyes’ eye.

Flamengo’s Wesley Franca was also linked to Everton before the Friedkin Group’s other owned club Roma landed his signature.

Moyes also reiterated his desire to recruit from the Championship

Back in January, Moyes publicly said Everton will look to sign players from the Championship as it’s a method that has paid dividends for him in the past.

The likes of Tim Cahill and more recently Jarrod Bowen are notable examples of that and he again reiterated his desire to recruit from the second tier.

“There are hundreds who are playing who are trying to get to the top level and a lot them can,” he told the Athletic.

“Look at Morgan Rogers (who signed for Aston Villa from Middlesbrough), or Adam Wharton, who went from Blackburn to Crystal Palace.

“For them to be plucked out, both of them going on to be England internationals, it would be unbelievably naive to think it is not possible, because part of our job is to try to look to see what’s on your doorstep if we can.”
