Everton fans have very high hopes for the 2025/26 season but key to doing well is having a strong summer.

Everton have managed to get the ball rolling now, signing Thierno Barry recently after turning Carlos Alcaraz’s loan move to the club permanent.

Mark Travers recently arrived at Everton from Bournemouth, and the Toffees will continue their work in the coming weeks.

David Moyes wants four to six more signings at Everton, and that many additions would be most welcome.

Moyes feels Everton could challenge for Europe with the right window, and that would certainly be some achievement at the end of The Friedkin Group’s first full season.

In recent weeks, we’ve seen Everton make important decisions on players already at the club, with the new contract for Jarrad Branthwaite a particularly big development.

And now, it seems another big player at Everton is set to sign off on a new deal.

Everton would perhaps not currently be preparing for an exciting new season in the Premier League had it not been for the efforts of Jordan Pickford in recent years.

During the later years of the Farhad Moshiri reign, Everton diced with death in the Premier League and came very close to being relegated.

But in the end, the team were able to survive – and Pickford more than played his part.

He won the club’s Player of the Season award for three years running, which really says it all about how important he has been.

Now, journalist Alan Nixon has reported via his Patreon that Pickford is close to signing a new contract with Everton.

He says Everton are close to shaking hands with Pickford – who cost £30 million (Sky Sports) – over a new deal, after talks sped along recently.

The suggestion is that Pickford’s proposed new deal could be for four more years. His current deal has two left on it.

It is also claimed that Pickford would be in line for a ‘huge increase’ to his salary by the end of the proposed new deal.

It would be another hugely positive move from Everton and The Friedkin Group to hand Pickford a new contract.

And it would be no less than he deserves after his wonderful consistency for Everton in recent years.

Clean sheets – 89
Player of the Year awards – 3

Everton are set for an exciting new chapter now at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and that just would not have been possible without Pickford’s heroics.

He is clearly one of the best players in his position in the Premier League, and he needs a contract to reflect that.

It sounds as though an announcement could come soon, and Everton fans will no doubt rejoice, just as they did with Branthwaite.
