Everton need a spark in the midfield department.
The absence of Iliman Ndiaye due to the Africa Cup of Nations has shown just how sorely David Moyes lacks creativity without the Senegal international, a point proven in an embarrassing 4-2 loss against Brentford and the underwhelming 1-1 draw against Wolves, both at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
As Jack Grealish struggles to step up – and is likely to return to Manchester City this summer anyway – Everton need a new source of magic in midfield, which The Friedkin Group could find in Imran Louza.
Everton could land a midfield maestro compared to Diego Maradona in Imran Louza
TEAMtalk believe Everton are chasing the Watford No.10 this winter to give Moyes another option in midfield.
Everton are interested in Imran Louza, thoughts Toffees fans? 👀
If a deal materialises for Louza – who Tom Cleverley rates highly – it would be seriously exciting for Everton fans considering what has previously been said about the Morocco international.
The BBC actually likened the 26-year-old to the great Diego Maradona when covering the Watford maestro back in August, describing one majestic pirouette against QPR as something the Argentinian legend would have done.
However, the BBC also compared Louza to Maradona in a negative sense as well after he was shown a straight red card for a “needless” challenge in the same match – claiming the Everton target is capable of the “occasional moment of madness” too.
The man born in Nantes is undoubtedly a fantastic talent nonetheless, having scored six goals and provided seven assists in 23 appearances so far this season for Watford.
Watford signing another Everton target may actually help Toffees land Imran Louza
Incidentally, Watford are keen to sign Edoardo Bove – who Everton also like – this winter, as he prepares to terminate his contract with Roma and move elsewhere on a free transfer.
If you were David Moyes, which three players would you want to sign in January?
The Italian is a central midfielder like Louza, so the Hornets might be more open to selling the Maradona-like maestro to Everton if they are able to secure a direct replacement in Bove, in our opinion at least.
TEAMtalk did not mention how much Watford could demand for Louza.
However, considering the Championship outfit spent £8m to sign him from Nantes back in June 2021 and he remains under contract until July 2028, they are in a very strong position to demand at least double that sum.
