Everton missed out on a transfer target right at the start of the summer transfer window.

The Toffees held talks with Kieran Trippier after Seamus Coleman departed the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with David Moyes seemingly keen to replace the Irishman’s experience by signing the 35-year-old.

However, the England international held productive talks with Rob Edwards at Wolves, and made the surprise decision to move to Molineux on a free transfer after being released by Newcastle.

Trippier is now furious – according to talkSPORT – after Wolves surprisingly sacked Edwards, and Keith Downie of Sky Sports has provided a further update.

If you were Angus Kinnear who would you be going all out for this summer? 💰

Kieran Trippier could walk away from Wolves contract after Everton talks

The reliable journalist now claims that the former Tottenham defender could still sign for another club, having only signed a pre-contract agreement ahead of a move to Wolves on July 1st.

Downie claims other clubs Trippier rejected in favour of Wolves are “still” interested – hinting that Everton could be involved after those alleged talks.

It is said that the right-back “feels betrayed” by the decision to sack Edwards, who was a “key” factor behind his move to the Midlands.

Everton are yet to make a serious move for an alternative to Trippier despite interest in Atalanta defender Raoul Bellanova – according to Paul Joyce – so Moyes could well be waiting to see the outcome of this messy situation over at Wolves.

Jordan Pickford could be decisive if the former Atletico Madrid defender does end up searching for another club.

Trippier has previously called Pickford his best friend in football, so the Everton No.1 could help to lure his close pal to the Hill Dickinson Stadium if Wolves fail to calm him down over the sacking of Edwards.

Are there any players from the relegated clubs you want to see Everton go after this summer? 🤔

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, with Everton still on the lookout for a new right-back.
