Everton could be about to offload an unwanted player in January with Premier League rivals leading the race.
Everton‘s January transfer window is as much about who can be offloaded as it is about who can be brought in.
Financial constraints mean the Toffees will likely have a low spending window with loans and free deals the flavour of the month.
However, with that being said an update from Alan Myers suggested that this could change depending on sales.
With Amadou Onana believed to be one player likely to leave this could create a significant increase in Everton’s budget.
Now another player is being linked with an exit and Everton will likely jump at the chance to see him depart.

Newcastle front runners to sign Ben Godfrey
Everton defender Ben Godfrey is a player that the club would likely welcome a sale for. Not a regular by any means, the Englishman could fetch a handy fee for the Toffees and it could come from another Premier League side according to reports.
FootballTransfers have reported that Newcastle are the frontrunners to bring Godfrey in this January as a fee of £9m is said to be enough to secure his signature.
Godfrey has made just two appearances this season for Everton in the Premier League and therefore is a prime player to sell and raise some funds.
This comes a day after Godfrey was linked with struggling Serie A side Roma as Jose Mourinho looks to strengthen mid-season also.
It seems through the various interests from different clubs in Europe that Godfrey will be departing Goodison Park this window after failing to ever really live up to his high potential. For a player once lauded by Carlo Ancelotti, he’s undoubtedly failed thus far to prove the legendary Italian right.
What did Carlo Ancelotti say about Ben Godfrey?
Back in 2020 before Godfrey had signed for Everton, the then Toffees boss was quizzed over his side’s interest in Godfrey.
In response, he raved about the then-Norwich defender as he avoided answering the question directly.
“I said in the past that we are looking for a centre-back because we are short there, and Godfrey is a really good centre-back, but he is at this moment playing for Norwich, so I can’t say more.”
