Everton will be needing to source themselves a new midfielder over the summer window.
Plenty of questions remain unanswered for David Moyes ahead of the Friedkins’ very first summer at the club.
Considerable progress has been made at Everton considering the club are mathematically safe from the drop with six games remaining.
That would have seemed a pipe dream following the dismal start to the season under Sean Dyche.
But brighter times are ahead for the Toffees, with the Friedkins ready to fund the summer market as they aim to bolster Moyes’ options.
Idrissa Gana Gueye has been offered a new Everton deal, but it is yet to be seen whether he will accept the offer.
With the Senegal international viewed as a key piece in the starting XI, who could be his partner going into next season could certainly be up for debate.

Everton target Habib Diarra given green light for summer move
Planning for the summer, Everton are keen to add a new midfielder to their squad with players set to leave.
It is not just Gueye who is coming to the end of his deal on Merseyside, with Abdoulaye Doucoure in the same boat.
As players look set to leave, L’Equipe have provided some encouraging news as RC Strasbourg would green light Habib Diarra’s exit this summer.
It is claimed Everton are one of the clubs who are showing a keen interest in the 21-year-old Senegal international.
The Toffees are not alone, however, with Brighton and Hove Albion also placing Diarra on their radar.
Diarra has three years remaining on his deal. So, he would not come cheap, but Strasbourg are not looking to stand in his way.
Everton have been mooted as a landing spot for Kevin De Bruyne, and although that remains incredibly unlikely, a swoop for Diarra may now be on.
It will be interesting to see whether Gueye’s future at the club could play a role in this as he could help recruit his fellow countryman to join.

Habib Diarra could be Everton’s perfect Idrissa Gana Gueye partner
Some Everton fans have criticised James Garner who has not exactly impressed in his displays alongside Gueye in the defensive two.
Something new may be needed for the 2025/26 season for the Blues to really progress in midfield.
And Diarra is a player who could certainly progress the play.
| 2024/25 | Total (per 90) | Percentile |
| Progressive passes | 2.34 | 90 |
| Progressive passes received | 4.16 | 91 |
| Progressive distance (yards) | 72.1 | / |
| Progressive carries | 2.25 | / |
Diarra has been hailed as a ‘big talent’ by talent scout Jacek Kulig who has been seriously impressed by the youngster.
With Strasbourg still in the hunt for European football, it will be interesting to see how he views his future if Liam Rosenior’s side are able to finish inside the top six.
