Everton are still looking to get their January transfer window up and running with their first signing of the month.

Plenty has been done off the pitch by the Friedkins since they landed at Everton last month.

However, David Moyes is yet to see any upgrades to his squad in the market after being appointed nearly two weeks ago.

Moyes was expected to have demanded signings before taking the job on.

But he is being made to wait patiently with just under two weeks remaining until the window shuts for the rest of the season.

There is one midfielder who Everton are showing a keen interest in, but it will require some negotiations to be done to secure a deal.

Everton keen on signing Carney Chukwuemeka

According to Alex Crook, Everton are seriously keen on landing Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea this month.

However, there may well be a sticking point with Everton looking to sign the 21-year-old on loan, but their quota is full.

This could well see negotiations take place with Chelsea over the potential termination of Armando Broja’s loan.

Chelsea have already demanded a full loan fee from Everton for Broja if they are to send the Albania international back to west London.

But if Chukwuemeka is to go in the other direction, perhaps a deal could be struck.

Carney Chukwuemeka needs a fresh start away from Chelsea

It is the classic tale of a young talent joining one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League for £20m, only to suffer a lack of game time.

Chukwuemeka joined the Blues back in 2022 from Aston Villa and has really struggled to make an impression under Enzo Maresca.

With Tim Iroegbunam still recovering from his injury, midfielders could be required this month to bolster Moyes’ options.

The questions is whether Chukwuemeka can break into the starting XI after playing next to no football this season.
