Everton fans have given their verdict on the potential signing of Jacob Murphy.

It’s emerged over the weekend that Everton are considering signing Newcastle United star Jacob Murphy this summer.

Murphy is being targeted by David Moyes and his recruitment chiefs as they look to add more depth to their attacking ranks.

With Jack Grealish back at Manchester City, the Newcastle winger looks like he could be being lined up as a replacement.

With that said, here’s what Everton fans on TalkingPoints and on our Facebook page have said about the rumour.

Everton fans really don’t want Jacob Murphy

It’s fair to say, the majority of Everton supporters do not want the club to sign Murphy, who scored three Premier League goals last term.

The former England youth international celebrated his 31st birthday earlier this year, so he’s probably past his prime now.

Murphy would be a decent addition if he’s just a squad option due to his availability and versatility, which Eddie Howe has been very complimentary of.

But, there are far more important areas of the pitch that need to be addressed first, most notably at right-back.

A centre-forward is also a much higher priority position, with Thierno Barry and Beto clearly not consistent enough to fire the club back into Europe.

Evidently, Moyes has little trust in Tyler Dibling, who has only started four league games since arriving in a £40m deal from Southampton last summer.

Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig have been linked with a move to sign Dibling in recent weeks, so it’ll be interesting to see what the club decide to do with the 20-year-old this window.

If Murphy joins, it wouldn’t at all be surprising to see him head out on loan, which would be a real shame.
