Everton’s recruitment team have been drawing up a list of targets ahead of the summer transfer window.

High up on Everton’s list of priorities is a striker, with Liam Delap holding talks with David Moyes over the last few days.

Fabrizio Romano understands the Toffees are willing to offer Delap a massive contract, which could give them the edge over other interested parties.

Stuttgart centre-forward Nick Woltemade is also on Everton’s radar, though, Arsenal have just opened talks with him this week, so it won’t be an easy deal to do.

On the outgoing front, it’s equally as busy, and now there is some bad news breaking about one of their key players.

Everton fans worried after hearing Idrissa Gana Gueye news

Idrissa Gana Gueye is one of the first-teamers out of contract this summer, and so far, there’s been no news on a renewal.

Moyes would love to keep Gueye ahead of the move to the Hill Dickinson stadium, with his experience seen as invaluable to help settle into the new surroundings.

But now, there are reports that Paris FC could sign Gueye on a free transfer, which has left fans really concerned.

“Can’t be losing our best player,” @Goodisonakz posted.

@EvertonF1878_ added: “We couldn’t replace him last time and it took us 2 and a half years to replace him and we replaced him with him….”

“Will be a massive loss and very hard to replace if he goes,” @TheEvertonEnd commented.

“HE SHOULD NOT BE SOLD. He was our best outfield player this season and last. Only Pickford was more important to our survival. He should be given a new 2-year contract,” @redderrobbo explained.

@ChohanRajesh said: “I hope we keep Gueye.”

@AndyPat28924631 reckons he’ll stay: “After listening to him and his wife last week I’d be very surprised if he left.”

Gueye would be irreplaceable

Replacing Gueye’s qualities would be very difficult, but doable. However, finding someone with the same level of experience and knowledge of Everton, that’d be almost impossible.

The veteran midfielder has enjoyed two excellent spells on Merseyside and knows the club inside and out.

Sean Dyche previously admitted that Gueye’s knowledge of the football club was ‘incredible’, so to lose that would be a massive blow ahead of what’s going to be a season of change next year.

So, with that said, the Friedkin Group must do everything in their power to tie him down to a new deal, at least until 2026.

Then the process of finding a replacement will be a little easier.
