Everton haven’t enjoyed the best start to the Premier League season.

Sean Dyche’s side have won just two of their opening 11 games and failed to defeat an out-of-form West Ham United on Saturday.

As such, Everton fans still want Dyche to be sacked with the upcoming international break seen as the perfect time to make a change in the dugout.

The Friedkin Group have identified David Moyes as a potential replacement for Dyche, though, they may wait until next summer to begin the process of finding his long-term successor.

Anyhow, it wasn’t all doom and gloom yesterday as there were a couple of standout performances with Jordan Pickford earning the Man of the Match award against The Hammers.

Dyche was also extremely complimentary of one of his outfielders and admitted that his knowledge of the football club is rubbing off on his teammates.

Sean Dyche says Idrissa Gueye knowledge of Everton is rubbing off on his teammates

Speaking to the Everton website after the West Ham clash, Sean Dyche waxed lyrical about Idrissa Gueye’s performance.

“Really pleased, Dyche explained.

“I think he set the tone against Southampton. We didn’t get a win. He set the tone today. We got a nice clean sheet.

“Some of his work, he just sees the picture quickly with the ball, without the ball, snuffs out things, attacks and counters.

“I thought it was a very good performance from him. It rubs off on people, you know, with his experience and his knowledge of Everton Football Club. I think it rubs off on others.

“And Mangala, I must say, I thought he worked really hard with him today. Good performance from them two.”

Gueye’s impressive statistics vs West Ham

Gueye’s Sofascore statistics make for really impressive reading and amplify exactly why Dyche was keen to heap praise on him in his post-match interview.

The former PSG midfielder wasn’t just sound defensively but as Dyche alluded too, his vision created a number of opportunities for his teammates.

Gueye, who earns around £80k-a-week per Capology, turned 35 in September but remains one of Everton’s most athletic and dynamic players.

His longevity is admirable.
