Everton fans were left stunned last night when they were given some crucial communication regarding the ongoing takeover process.
John Textor has been trying to buy Everton for some time now, succeeding 777 Partners’ failed bid and Dan Friedkin, who chose to walk away.
Few could condemn the latter for opting out, especially after all the financial turmoil that is still ongoing under the surface.
However, few have made such progress and been as vocal as the Lyon owner, who wants to bring the Toffees in as part of his multi-club model.
But, his largely positive claims have not been completely well-received…
Everton fans react to John Textor interview
The Esk poked holes in John Textor’s claims to start, with many more having since followed suit.
For some, such transparency was welcomed, and he has garnered plenty of support by simply saying what people want to hear.
However, for others, there are a few eery similarities between his bullish claims and the ones Farhad Moshiri once used to make…
One supporter would also write: ‘The more I hear about Textor the further I want him away from our club.’
He then sought to expand on his claims: ‘Certain things I hear and read just reminds me of Moshiri. ‘“I’m gonna bring in these types of players for the manager”, that ‘I know best’ mentality from the owner/s is exactly why we’re in the position we are now.’
An Everton fan site then echoed this sentiment: ‘“Highly collaborative” Textor has invited “friends to join him on Everton buyout.
‘Hope this isn’t Moshiri mark two vanity project, and he has a genuine desire to do well. Most important thing is – employ the right people in the right roles. Not because they’re mates or local.’
Farhad Moshiri also promised Evertonians the world…
It’s worth noting that these claims are not without their merits.
After all, during and immediately after he bought into Everton, Moshiri promised Evertonians the world as well.
As we have since seen, he failed to deliver that spectacularly, plunging the club into financial ruin.

He infamously claimed, back in 2016: ‘We don’t want to be a museum. We need to be competitive and we need to win.
‘We have a window to establish ourselves and we will do everything we can. Now we need to look at sustainability to be amongst the elite. It takes time, but we are committed.’
Textor should heed these false promises and ensure that he too does not fall foul to delivering such disappointment.
