When Everton appointed David Moyes in January 2025, it was reported that he signed a two-and-a-half-year deal.
So, as it stands, David Moyes is actually out of contract next year, meaning the Friedkin Group will have to make a decision on his future soon.
Is Moyes still underappreciated by Everton fans for the job he’s doing? 🤔
Moyes has split opinions among Everton fans at times this season, with some even calling for him to be sacked, quite remarkably.
So, we decided to ask our TalkingPoints and Facebook users whether he should be offered a new contract.

Moyes’ current deal expires next year… 🤔
Everton fans debate whether David Moyes should get a new contract
When asked whether Moyes deserves a new bumper deal, following Everton’s win against Burnley, one fan revealed that he’s heard ‘whispers’ about Celtic and Rangers interest.
Many admitted they’d love him to stay and commit his long-term future to the club.
- “He’s asking for a further 3 years! If he doesn’t get it, he’s got offers from Celtic & Scotland! So the corridor whispers say!”
- “YES 100%. We don’t need to go down the road of the last few years of changing a manager after 1 full or half seasons again. Stability will be the key going forward. In Moysey we trust UTFT, COYB.”
- “Personally I don’t think he will want to go anywhere. He’s a true blue. He even admitted that when at West Ham. He always thought of Everton. It’s in his blood.”
- “Think he deserves a new contract, don’t skimp on the money.”
- “Yes give him as long as he wants.”
- “No they shouldn’t. A Burnley win isn’t a big result.”
It would certainly be harsh if Moyes wasn’t offered a new deal, as he currently has Everton in the race for Europe.

In fact, across the 48 Premier League games he’s taken charge of since returning, the Toffees would be sixth in the table, so he’s turned them into a Europa League-level team.
Perhaps the Friedkins will wait to make a decision at the end of the season, with the deciding factor based on whether they qualify for Europe.
Although the logistics behind that may not be viable, as long-term planning for the forthcoming transfer windows will be necessary during the spring.
They’ll need to know which manager they’re recruiting for.
