Everton’s European dreams ended against Sunderland on Sunday afternoon.
Everton had to beat Sunderland to keep pace with the top nine, but they were beaten 3-1 on their own patch.
Regis Le Bris’s substitutions changed the game whilst David Moyes waited and allowed the momentum to shift.
How do you even sum that up? 😡
Everton end their home campaign on a whimper 😫
Moyes has been heavily criticised in recent weeks, but clearly the dreadful form isn’t just on him, and supporters did single out one ‘poor’ Toffees player after the Sunderland defeat.

Everton fans slam ‘poor’ Iliman Ndiaye vs Crystal Palace
Iliman Ndiaye has now gone six games without a goal or an assist, and fans were very critical of the Senegalese winger after the game.
One fan pointed out that Ndiaye has been dreadful since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations at the start of the year.
- “Ndiaye was poor today, can’t place a finger on why.”
- “I absolutely hate saying it, but he’s been poor for weeks/months. I actually believe (but obviously only for the right offer ) we should move him on.”
- “Ndiaye seems flat and uncreative. Not the same since AFCON.”
- “Awful performance, looks to have completely run out of steam, especially Ndiaye, kept shooting and crossing with no chance of hitting the target, just get rid. Surely DM can see where needs to rotate.”
- “Rubbish again (Ndiaye). Granted he looks knackered, but absolutely useless.”
- “Surely it’s down to (Ndiaye) overplaying all season, and that’s Moyes’ fault when George or Dibling (are on the bench).”
As a few fans noted, the Toffees playmaker looks absolutely exhausted, so it’s pretty baffling that Moyes hasn’t given him a rest.
The Scotsman has to use his squad and allow the likes of Tyler Dibling and Tyrique George to start games.
Which Everton player should not be started next week against Spurs? 😬
Remarkably, Dibling has played just one minute of football since January, so clearly Moyes doesn’t trust the 20-year-old.
The Everton boss has been far too reliant on the old guard and has placed too much trust in the experienced players in the run-in.
That approach certainly hasn’t worked out, as the Toffees are currently languishing in the bottom half of the table.
Leeds United are only two points adrift of the Merseysiders, and they were in a relegation battle at one stage.
