David Moyes has always found a player to become his main man at previous clubs after success at Everton and West Ham.

Moyes was welcomed by his former Everton stars on his return to the club, as the Toffees fanbase would’ve been delighted seeing some former fan-favourites sending their wishes.

During his 11-year tenure at Everton, Moyes developed some memorable players at Goodison Park which have remained talked about for years.

After Moyes has already made some key decisions, he will now have to target someone who could potentially replicate his former successes.

In his first tenure at Everton, he had success with Marouane Fellaini who became a real threat and the same went for Tomas Soucek whilst Moyes was at West Ham.

Fans are now wondering who will be the next.

Everton fans pick Abdoulaye Doucoure to shine under David Moyes

Moyes developed Fellaini and Soucek to be box-to-box attacking midfielders, showing strength and being a real threat in the air.

A tweet has done the rounds on X (formerly Twitter) detailing who the Everton fanbase think will be number three in this line of succession.

The fanbase gave their responses with one name standing out above all the suggestions.

One fan said simply: “Screams Doucoure.”

Another added: “Doucoure, has to be.”

One fan believes he is similar to Soucek: “Ability on ball mostly (what he lacks), although personally think a lot of his other qualities outshine that (similar to Soucek in that aspect).”

Another fan said: “Doucoure, bloke gets far too much stick from our fans.”

Doucoure under Moyes can improve Everton’s goal-scoring

Sean Dyche got the best out of Doucoure last season with the midfielder being used as an attacking threat from midfield, scoring seven goals.

However, Moyes can get him to another level.

We saw what he did with Fellaini at Everton, as he scored eleven goals in the Premier League before his move to Manchester United, and Soucek is still a threat in the air to this day after Moyes’ effect.

Everton have really struggled to find the back of the net this season, with 15 goals to their name in the Premier League, but if Moyes can unlock Doucoure, there is no reason why this can’t increase drastically.

Moyes could replicate Doucoure’s form, but judging by his work with Fellaini and Soucek, he could double those stats.
