Everton fans won’t believe what Shay Given predicted to happen this season under Sean Dyche

Everton find themselves at risk of slipping towards the relegation zone after a rather mixed start to the season, which has put Shay Given’s prediction in extreme doubt.

The Toffees managed to avoid relegation by 14 points last season, despite being handed a points deduction as Sean Dyche did his job.

Everton have been their inconsistent selves to start this season too, losing the first four, going on a positive run and then dropping off again recently.

No one was expecting too much this season, with the Friedkin Group just happy with avoiding relegation as they look to move into the new stadium with the club’s Premier League status intact.

Shay Given threw a big prediction out there at the start of the season, and it already looks to have gone horribly wrong despite only being 11 games in.

Shay Given’s Everton prediction to start the season

Shay Given appeared 451 times in the Premier League before hanging up his gloves.

He knows a thing or two about football, but he definitely seems to have overshot his prediction for Everton this season in the Premier League under Sean Dyche.

Speaking back in August, Given made a prediction that Everton would be flying high in the top half of the table, which seems like a dream right now.

“Everton. I don’t think they’ll be in a relegation fight but will be cruising in top half.”

A top half finish looks a long way off for Everton

To reach the top half the Toffees need to be six points better off than they are at this point.

With tough games coming up against teams inside the top six, it could start to look rather bleak soon for Everton if they don’t pick up points.

It’s confusing to see where this prediction came from for Everton, as they looked fairly good and did well last season to finish where they did considering the points deduction.

But, they didn’t really make any signings in the summer that would suggest such a huge improvement this time round, despite Iliman Ndiaye starting well at Goodison Park.

When you consider the fact that Everton have had the easiest start to the season, it doesn’t bode well.
