Everton are one of the clubs that have shown an interest in Manchester City’s James McAtee.

David Moyes will be desperate to see some new faces join his squad over the final week of the pre-season tour of the United States.

An emphasis has been put on improving Everton’s attacking options this summer in the transfer window.

Everton also hold an interest in Jack Grealish from Manchester City, but it is McAtee who has now had more concrete interest shown.

McAtee has decided to remain in the Premier League despite receiving strong interest from the Bundesliga.

With plenty of Premier League clubs also showing an interest in the midfielder, Man City have just knocked back an offer from one of Everton’s rivals.

Nottingham Forest have bid rejected for Everton target James McAtee

Everton have held positive talks with McAtee’s camp already this summer, but they face some serious competition.

Nottingham Forest also hold a strong interest in McAtee and they have now made the first move to sign him.

According to Sky Sports, Forest have now seen a £25m bid for McAtee rejected by Man City.

It is claimed City are open to selling McAtee over the coming weeks, but they will demand a bigger fee than what Forest have now tabled.

Having seen their offer bounce back, Forest are now believed to be pushing for McAtee’s signature.

Reports have previously suggested McAtee would be open to joining Everton, but it is now up to Everton to battle their Premier League rivals for a deal.

With a deal for Adam Aznou now close to being completed, Angus Kinnear will surely have his eyes back on adding some attacking players.

The Friedkins need to make a statement in the transfer window

With the finances in place, the Friedkins are keen to make a statement signing for Everton.

If the club are truly interested in bringing McAtee to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, losing out to Nottingham Forest would not be a great look.

Of course, Everton may feel a move for Grealish would be their ideal scenario over McAtee, but that appears to be a deal which may take weeks to work.

McAtee may not be a statement signing in comparison to someone like Grealish, but beating rivals, who can offer European football, would certainly be a big statement to the rest of the league.
