Everton still haven’t signed a new right-back, but there could be an opening for the club to sign Sacha Boey.
Everton have now played two pre-season friendlies, having used Merlin Rohl and Jake O’Brien there.
Of course, Seamus Coleman has left the club, while Nathan Patterson has not been back with the squad yet and is expected to be sold.
So it’s still square pegs in round holes for now, which is something most fans are not enamoured with.
Everton’s search for a new right-back has proven tricky, with a number of the club’s targets having seen their values increase over the summer.
Djed Spence is a particular example of this, having played really well for England at the World Cup.
With money tight, though, perhaps Everton ought to be going back in for Sacha Boey.

Everton were linked with Boey back in January, but ultimately didn’t make a move.
He joined Galatasaray on loan, but they’ve opted not to sign Boey permanently, and now there’s been a development regarding his parent club, Bayern Munich.
Christoph Freund, Bayern’s sporting director, said in recent days (via Goal). “They are training with us, but they will no longer play a major role with us, and they are aware of that.
“Both are good players, and they will continue training and playing with us, but the plan is for their next step to be somewhere else.”

Right now, three of Everton’s top right-back targets have high asking prices.
Spence will not be allowed to leave for cheap by Tottenham Hotspur after his excellent performances over the summer, and they might even block his exit altogether and make him a regular starter.
Guela Doue of Strasbourg had an asking price of about £40 million earlier in the summer.
And Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s asking price was increased by West Ham following good performances for DR Congo at the World Cup. They’ve made some huge sales this summer despite their relegation, and likely won’t be doing anyone any favours over Wan-Bissaka.
Ben White of Arsenal is another expensive target.
So at £13 million, Boey represents a budget option for Everton, but someone who can still provide quality and longevity.
He may not have been signed permanently by Gala, but it’s been suggested that foreign player quota restrictions and financial struggles are the main reasons for that, rather than Boey not impressing. Freund actually noted that Boey had put in good performances for the Turkish club.
The 25-year-old has scored 10 goals and made 12 assists in 207 club games in his career so far, indicating he has attacking output.
With great pace and physicality, he is not only a threat going forward, but tricky for opposition wingers to get past, and Everton obviously need a full-back who can do both sides of the game well.
He previously had the seal of approval from Mathys Tel, who said of Boey (via Bavaria Football Works): “Sacha is a top player – fast and very, very strong, always well prepared.”
Clearly he has no future at Bayern, and with Gala choosing not to sign him permanently, surely this is an opportunity Everton have to look into, having shown interest in the player previously.
