Everton made nine signings in the summer transfer window but more additions are looking like they may be needed in January.

David Moyes had seen his side make a strong start to the 2025/26 campaign, but that has taken a hit over recent weeks.

The past few days have not been positive ones for Everton, who have lost in both the Premier League and Carabao Cup.

Although it is still early days, the Blues have seen a mixed bag when it comes to their summer transfer business.

Jack Grealish has been named Player of the Month for August, but not all of the signings have made such an impact on Merseyside.

The January transfer window may be some time away but there is one target from the summer who’s been told he could be allowed to leave his current club.

Everton target told he could be sold in January

Earlier this year, Everton showed an interest in Raphael Onyedika alongside the likes of West Ham United.

Adding to the midfield was a real desire for Moyes over the summer, and he was able to do that with a number of changes in the market.

According to Gazet van Antwerpen, Onyedika could be allowed to leave Club Brugge in the January transfer window.

It is suggested that the Nigeria international was set on a move away over the summer, but he has not allowed that disappointment to affect his performances.

If Onyedika can continue his current level of form, it is claimed that he could land himself a move in the winter market.

Everton landed Merlin Rohl on deadline day earlier in the month, but fans are yet to get a good look at the German.

Perhaps the coming weeks could determine whether Everton make a January move for another midfielder.

David Moyes is delighted with Everton’s midfielders

The Toffees may have lost on Tuesday evening against Wolves in the Carabao Cup, but there are plenty of positives for the 62-year-old to take.

Everton have seen some positive performances come from some of their midfielders, with James Garner showing his quality in the early stages of the term.

Speaking to the media at Molineux, Moyes waxed lyrical about Garner who returned to the midfield after filling in at left-back.

“Well, he’s been an important player all season and he’s done it again tonight,” said Moyes.

“He put a lot of effort in. We just needed something to go on in. I thought when we were 1-0 down, if anybody was going to get the next goal, it was certainly going to be us, but it went the other way.”

Keeping Garner fit may now be crucial for Everton’s hopes this season, but any big injury issues in the midfield could see the Blues forced to dip into the January window.
