With a summer already laden with transfer activity, Everton could be forgiven for taking their foot off the gas a little.
However, Kevin Thelwell is showing no signs of making such a move, instead doubling down and throwing the Toffees headfirst into another transfer battle.
Having already snapped up three new faces to join Sean Dyche’s side, a winger still remains top of his shortlist.
And despite widespread interest in one man, he is not giving up.
Everton meet with Jaden Philogene’s camp
In what has been a long and arduous transfer saga, the latest offering is provided by The Daily Star print edition [10 July, page 43], who just today have provided a fresh update on Jaden Philogene’s future.
This is a narrative that has taken plenty of twists and turns, with one earlier report stating that Philogene wanted to join Everton, and another instead arguing that Philogene would be going to Ipswich Town.

Few seem to know what is going on, but this update has at least stated where the Toffees are up to in their pursuit.
They write: ‘Ipswich have made a splash in the transfer market by agreeing to sign Liam Delap and Jaden Philogene in a £38m double deal.
‘They have agreed to pay Manchester City an initial £15m for Delap. With another £5m in add-ons.
‘They have also had an £18m offer for Philogene accepted by Hull.

‘Ipswich have fought off Southampton to land Delap and the Saints also met City’s asking price. However, it is understood the striker, who scored eight goals on loan at Hull last season, prefers a move to Portman Road.
‘Everton and Crystal Palace were also keen on Philogene and met his camp to discuss terms.
‘The Tractor Boys have agreed a five-year deal with the winger and also want Tigers defender Jacob Greaves.’
A messy transfer saga for Everton
Given the Hull City owner admitted that Philogene would likely leave this summer, interest has been high ever since.
He was one of the Championship’s outstanding talents last season, and was always bound to command attention, but for Ali Acun Ilicali to make such a claim has only inspired more interest.

Ipswich Town, Everton, Crystal Palace and even Barcelona were linked at one point, and yet we are seemingly no closer to a conclusion.
Dyche might consider abandoning this saga altogether due to the joke it has become. After all, the 22-year-old trickster is not the only winger they have on their shortlist, with Everton wanting Yaser Asprilla too.
