Everton are now on the search for their next signing after completing the deal to bring Thierno Barry to Merseyside.

An exciting addition to the Everton squad was sealed, but fans will be well aware of the mammoth task still at the hands of Angus Kinnear.

The Friedkins have provided the money for Everton to invest, but it comes in a summer window where the Toffees need quantity as well as quality.

Free agent signings and loan additions are going to be key for Everton if they are going to be able to spend their money wisely.

David Moyes is demanding more signings, with the 62-year-old conscious of the clock ticking down on their flight over to the United States later this month.

Just days after landing Barry, it appears the Toffees have now moved a step closer to signing their next player.

Everton agree a deal to sign Mark Travers

Asmir Begovic and Joao Virginia both left Everton at the end of June as free agents, which has left the goalkeeping options extremely bare.

Clearly, this is an area which requires strong backup, with Jordan Pickford holding the starting spot between the sticks.

According to one journalist, Everton have now reached an agreement with AFC Bournemouth to sign their goalkeeper Mark Travers.

No further details of the deal were shared, but it appears the 26-year-old goalkeeper is set to make the move to Merseyside.

Young goalkeeper Douglass Lukjanciks has been impressing in Everton training this pre-season after the 17-year-old was called up to the senior side.

However, the Toffees do need a senior option to push Pickford in training, and also to offer a solid alternative for cup games and any potential injury issues.

This may not be the move that gets fans excited for the new season, but this is an essential piece of business which Everton needed to do.

Mark Travers is a solid backup option to Jordan Pickford

Jordan Pickford has been hailed as Everton’s best player following another stunning season between the sticks.

Any goalkeeper that lands on Merseyside has to be aware of their position in the pecking order.

But Travers will certainly be looking to push Pickford on a daily basis having played a considerable number of games out on loan with Middlesbrough last season.

He also has some Premier League experience to his name, which should provide fans with some confidence for the odd occasion when Pickford does not play.

More exciting signings will be made, but this feels like a solid addition from Kinnear.
