Everton seem likely to sign at least one new central midfielder this summer.

AC Milan star Youssouf Fofana is an option being considered by the Toffees, amid doubts over whether Idrissa Gueye will remain at the Hill Dickinson Stadium – the Senegal international becomes a free agent at the end of the season as things stand.

Now, a story from Caught Offside claims Noah Sadiki is also a target for Everton.

What would you do with Idrissa Gana Gueye this summer? 😬

Everton want Noah Sadiki but there is fierce competition for Sunderland maestro

It is said that Everton and Arsenal are ‘in the mix’ to sign the DR Congo international, although Chelsea are already in talks to secure his signature, while Manchester United have a strong interest as well – viewing the Sunderland No.27 as a priority target.

Sadiki only arrived at the Stadium of Light back in July, after Sunderland agreed a £15m fee with Union Saint-Gilloise for the 21-year-old.

The former Anderlecht star has been a pivotal figure under Regis Le Bris, making 30 Premier League appearances as Sunderland stayed well clear of any relegation fears in their first season after promotion.

With Sadiki’s contract running until July 2030, Sunderland – who also have another Everton target in Wilson Isidor – are in a strong negotiating position.

Caught Offside state that only a bid in the region of £60m would be considered, as Sunderland deem the Congolese star to be a crucial player and a central figure in their project.

Furthermore, considering Everton are planning to bolster four other areas of the squad, that price tag could therefore prove prohibitive, along with the intense competition for his signature.

Don’t hold back, let us know who you want gone this summer 👋

Sadiki would be an exceptional signing by The Friedkin Group if a deal materialises, but with all of the above taken into consideration, we really cannot see this move happening.

Hopefully, the Toffees prove us wrong.
