Everton have been really underwhelming this season.
Sean Dyche’s side just haven’t found their rhythm and that was evinced by their embarrassing 1-0 defeat to Southampton on the weekend.
Everton fans are growing frustrated with Dyche and there were calls for him to be sacked, with David Moyes tipped to return to Goodison Park.
The decision to bench Jarrad Branthwaite didn’t go down well and his pragmatic style of play is becoming tedious.
But, with the Friedkin Group not yet in post, he’s expected to retain his position and could be given the January transfer window to turn things around.
In fact, it’s just been reported that Everton could be given a second chance to sign a World Cup winner this winter.

Everton interested in move to sign Gonzalo Montiel
Everton held talks to sign Gonzalo Montiel in August but that move ultimately broke down.
Now, according to Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo, they’ve been given a second chance to sign him this winter.
Montiel has been made surplus to requirements by Sevilla having played just 11 minutes of league football.
The former Nottingham Forest loanee, who scored the winning penalty in Argentina’s World Cup triumph, could be available for as little as £3.3m.
Sevilla boss Garcia Pimienta wants to sign a right-back to replace him in January, so they’ll be eager to get him off the books as soon as possible.
Montiel’s statistics compared to Ashley Young
Ashley Young has been filling in at right-back for Everton lately, so here are how his statistics compared to Montiel’s.
| Stats per 90 | Gonzalo Montiel | Ashley Young |
| Aerials won | 1.40 | 0.71 |
| Tackles | 2.51 | 2.35 |
| Clearances | 3.49 | 2.31 |
| Assists | 0.28 | 0.13 |
Evidently, Montiel excels in all aspects of their underlying data, so he’d be a huge upgrade on the former Manchester United defender.
Though, it’s thought Everton could face competition from Premier League high-flyers Nottingham Forest – his former club.
