Everton have issued a statement following their disappointing end to the 2025/26 campaign.

Since the return from the international break, Everton have failed to win a single one of their seven Premier League games.

That has resulted in David Moyes’ side quickly dropping down the table to finish the campaign in an underwhelming 13th position.

European qualification was the target for Everton and they ended up falling way short, with a statement shared to their disappointed supporters.

Everton release statement after disappointing end to 2025/26 season

Moyes addressed Everton’s poor form when he admitted he was not surprised by James Garner’s England squad omission.

The final seven games of the campaign have been hugely underwhelming and even frustrating for the fans, which the club also wanted to acknowledge.

‘Evertonians, not the end to the season we wanted, but we still want to thank you for your incredible support throughout the 2025/26 campaign,’ the club said on X.

That was a disgraceful performance from Everton… something has to change! 😤

‘Onwards and upwards.’

It certainly wasn’t the end to the season that everyone had hoped for, with the opportunity of European qualification completely fumbled.

It must be remembered that going into the game against Sunderland, Regis Le Bris’ side were actually below Everton in the table.

Two wins in their final games of the season saw the Black Cats not only squeeze into the European spots, but they actually secured Europa League football.

Sunderland are the yardstick to beat Everton with over the summer as the constant use of the word ‘stability’ is used by those at the top of the club.

Of course, Everton want stability, but that does not equal success in a season where a newly-promoted side has made the most of their opportunity and landed a seventh-place finish.

Now come the questions over what will change this summer to really thrust Everton into the mix for European football.

Without a managerial change, there will be a lot of supporters who feel nothing will actually change at Everton.
