Everton are eyeing an ambitious summer transfer swoop for Tottenham Hotspur’s Djed Spence.

It is the position that has plagued Everton for years now and it finally seems as if a new right-back will be added this summer.

David Moyes has shown his trust in signing Premier League-proven players on Merseyside, with the likes of Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall proving instant hits.

It has been suggested that Everton hold an interest in Spence, but it has now been claimed that the Blues will not be getting a cut-price deal for the England international.

Tottenham’s stance on selling Djed Spence to Everton

Any potential deal for the Spurs right-back is going to be difficult as Roberto De Zerbi is a big fan of Spence.

The 25-year-old only recently signed a new contract through until 2029 and is currently playing for England at the World Cup.

Speaking on The Tottenham Way podcast, journalist George Sessions shared his understanding of Spurs’ stance on Spence.

After watching him for England vs Croatia, I’m convinced he’d be the perfect right-back signing this summer! 🔥

“Yeah, on Djed Spence, first of all, I’ve not heard that myself. I mean, Tom Barclay made a very good point a couple of pods ago that, you know, don’t just expect Djed Spence to be happy to play second fiddle for the next season. He’s at the World Cup for England, he’s coming on for England,” he said.

“But it’ll certainly take a decent chunk of money, I think, for Spurs to sell him. I don’t think they need to sell him for sort of £10m-£15m. I think they’d want more than that.”

Everton are being priced out of Guela Doue and even the likes of Ben White.

Tottenham are already showing their stern negotiating stance this summer with centre-back Luka Vuskovic having rejected a £45m bid from Brighton & Hove Albion.

This is just another example of an Everton target performing at the World Cup, which will not decrease his value.

Spence impressed after he replaced Jude Bellingham for the final 10 minutes on Wednesday evening against Croatia.

The strong right-back demonstrated his ability to get forward, which is something Everton have seriously lacked from the right-back position recently.

Leon Osman was blown away by Spence’s pace and that is just another aspect of the Englishman’s game that could improve Everton.

Spurs may have just secured Pedro Porro to a new deal, but prising Spence away from the project in north London is not going to prove an easy task.
