Everton may have found the heir to Seamus Coleman as bid submitted for Europa League star

Seamus Coleman has been a terrific servant for Everton.

The Everton captain is regarded as one of the best signings in Premier League history, as he cost them just £60,000 in 2009 from Sligo Rovers.

Seamus Coleman is out of contract in the summer, but David Moyes has confirmed that he will have a role at the club in some capacity next season.

“Seamus will stay next season, without doubt,” Moyes said. “Seamus will be part of the group, I need him here.

“His leadership, his message he has among the players and in the dressing room is so strong it’d be wrong of me to let him go. So one way or the other, Seamus will be here certainly next season.”

Everton will still need to find an heir to Coleman, as he’s past his peak and injuries have plagued him all year.

That said, it’s being reported that they’ve launched a bid for a defender on the continent.

Everton submit bid for Galatasaray defender Elias Jelert

Everton are in the market for a right-back this summer transfer window and have been drawing up a list of potential targets.

Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey is being linked with a move to Goodison Park, whilst Kyle Walker-Peters also remains on Moyes’ radar.

However, now it seems as though they’re focusing their attention on Galatasaray’s Elias Jelert, according to Yenicag Gazetesi.

It’s claimed Everton have already submitted an offer for Jelert, who has been made available for sale by the Turkish giants.

The 21-year-old is valued at around £7m, so it would be a very feasible deal for the Toffees to do.

Everton wanted to sign Jelert in January

Jelert has been in and out at Galatasaray, who have recently been crowned the Turkish Super Lig champions.

The 21-year-old has started just five league games all season but appeared in every Europa League game bar one.

Everton actually wanted to sign Jelert in January, so he’s been on their radar for a while, and his availability could present them with an opportunity to land a bargain transfer.

He’s already been capped three times by Denmark and will only improve as he gets older, so it makes sense for the Toffees.
